Interestingly, there is no evidence suggesting any Nazi would have faced severe punishment had an order to murder a Jew been disregarded. In fact, there were instances of Nazis who rose through the ranks despite turning down orders to murder Jews. Nazis were not forced to kill Jews, they chose to.
The film “Ordinary Men” portrays a false perspective of the the Nazi mindset. The claim that Nazis were ordinary people who did not want to kill, but were pressured into doing so is not supported by adequate facts. The facts support the notion that Nazis felt honor in carrying out the Fuhrer’s orders to “eliminate the Jewish race”.
Even if the claim that Nazis were “ordinary men” who were pressured to kill were supported by a stronger foundation, pier pressure as an excuse to kill is far from ordinary. It is idiosyncratic.
Nazis were far from “ordinary men”. To classify individuals who willfully participated in killing millions of innocent people as ordinary is a disgrace to actual ordinary people. Nazis are bigots and buffoons, and should never be classified as ordinary.
