While the film kept true to the original as much as it could, it still lacked some of the magic that made the original so memorable. The "I just can't wait to be king" and "Be prepared" musicals lack some of the fantastical elements that made the original so fun, but "Can you feel the love tonight" was very well done. Some of the voice acting was dry and flat with almost no emotion at some points, and even some lines that made me cringe so hard. The character's faces also display a very limited range of emotion, which is very concerning due to this film being made with modern technology. With all of that said, the movie did a good job of not only replicating the original, but adding a few new elements to the story that explained some of what happened during Simba's absence. Donald Glover and Beyonce displayed their ability to voice-act with flying colors, and voice acing done by James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, and John Kani were all well done. Overall, I give this movie a solid 6/10.
