Frank Sheed

I tried to like this movie but found it poorly written and phony. The characters tell you about their personalities but don't show them, so while I know who they're supposed to be, I have no sense of who they actually are. The high dramatic points in the movie feel like an acting class and the scene where Adam Driver breaks into song feels like it was pasted in from another movie. Ray Liotta and Laura Dern work hard but their characters are caricatures. Same with Julie Hagerty. Sorry, but this is just one step up from a bad Woody Allen movie.
