Sufiyum Sujathayum is a good movie that have taken me above my expectations of the film. A conventional love theme is transformed to a refreshing experience because of the totality achieved by the film through meticulous attention from casting to photography and script. The beautiful scenes with terse dialogues and balanced performance of the actors and gripping music certainly provide a good treat for the Covid stricken Malayali audience at home in Amazon platform.
Jayasurya proves again his potential and range as a gifted actor-hero by his effortless performance assimilating the predicament of a husband who has to take his wife to her lover's tomb. Manikandan Pattambi also impresses us in his role , Aditi and Dev Mohan, the lead pair also deserve mention as novices in Malayalam celluloid who can look forward optimistically.
The script writer and director are to appreciated for the care they have taken for not allowing the script and dialogue to slip on sentimentality or religious excesses though the plot gives scope for such a twist.
The film belongs to a genre layered in symbols that provide scope for different readings as the film unravels in a somber mood.
The producer Vijay Babu deserves applause for venturing to make a film on such a love theme in a society ridden with religious overtones but coming out unscathed.
