It was quite heart warming to watch my childhood favourite characters come to life. Archie, Veronica, Betty, Reggie, Ethel, Jughead, Moose, Dilly, Pop Tates.. and all of them.. wow. The Archie comics were a school pastime. They weren't supposed to be superhits.. and reading it left a satisfying, nice feeling.. This movie was no different. The direction was perfect. Riverdale was just like in the comic.. the characters were 'true to character'. The makers and all the artistes did a wonderful job in recreating the feel of the Archie comicbook. Some of the actors were star kids.. so what ? They did a damn good job including the non star kids and the character artistes. It was perfectly done. And to think I waited a month before I finally watched it due to all those negative reviews.

It's quite amazing that this movie has collected rave reviews and a thousand crores. Kept sitting through the movie hoping it will get better, but it went from bad to worse. The villain and female lead spoke real bad Hindi. The plot was all skewed. Multiple issues such as bad government hospitals, farmer suicides, environment etc all tackled within a few hours by the hero. By kidnapping ministers, hijacking trains, jails etc. and instead of asking for ransom asking for thousands of crores to put in farmer accounts, or latest equipment for government hospitals etc. In between solving issues heroes sing songs with heroines. Two heroines.. one Deepika Padukone and the other a South Indian actress. Two heroes.. Shahrukh Senior and Shahrukh Junior. And an idiotic performance by Sanjay Dutt. All plots put together in an intermittent fashion. All put together to utterly bore. Joy knew no bounds when it all ended and I escaped through that inviting exit door.

Wow.. Madhavan has portrayed many like us in the series who get pissed by certain characters in life.. but he acts upon his dislikes and pays dearly for it.. in a funny kind of way. A funnily sad portrayal of a modern couple's sufferance in an increasingly loveless marriage.. a realistic look at "modern" class based society.. makes one laugh and agree and nod one's head at every situation.. and still feel sad for the husband who wants to keep his marriage alive but in vain... Loved every moment of it.. binge watched all the 8 episodes this Sunday. Great going Madhavan, you owned each and every scene. Classic. Classy.
