The film provided a measure of entertainment, albeit with certain limitations. While the storyline was familiar, the actors seemed to grapple with delivering humor and authenticity. Moreover, the on-again/off-again dynamics within the central ‘relationship’ remained a recurring theme that fell flat and was generally difficult to follow. Additionally, the chemistry between Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney, both accomplished actors, appeared lacking. However, a refreshing and authentic portrayal emerged through the lesbian couple, transcending stereotypes and weak plotlines. While I don’t feel a movie review is the place/time to try to make a political statement or impact, I thought the movie did remind watchers that its essential to recognize that love transcends boundaries of race, sexual orientation, and physical appearance, regardless of any political connotations. It just doesn’t rise above a bad script/storyline.
