I have seen this movie twice now and each time I feel the same anguish, pain and sadness for Gatsby. Perfectly acted by the best, Leonardo DiCaprio (who doesn't love him and his amazing talent as an actor). He was mesmerising to watch in this throughout the whole film, though I know I might be conveyed as bias because I love him in everything he has acted in.
I felt such pain and sadness for him throughout the movie and the ending had me bawling with tears. He did not deserve that horrible ending for loving someone. His character reminded me a little of the overreacher, Icarus who died when he flew too close to the sun. I feel there is a parallel between him and Gatsby because Gatsby also completely overreached in order to get what he truly wanted, only to end in tragedy.
I just wish so much Daisy called him and they ended up together, It is a tragic love story and I felt every bit of it.
Tobey Maguire played Nick really well and was very authentic in the way he portrayed his true friendship, loyalty and love towards Gatsby; Sadly, he really was the only one who cared for him dearly at the end. It was an amazing, emotional rollercoaster and I highly recommend it!
Get those tissues ready if you get emotional with movies!
