This show is packed full of endearing characters and storylines. It generally revolves around relatable though sometimes quirky moral questions and personal interactions of the patrons at a late-night restaurant. The owner is the sole employee of the diner and subtly offers life advice to his customers while acting somewhat as a narrating device for the stories. These stories are genuinely charming allowing those of us from other countries a window into Japanese culture and mindsets while realizing how much we all have in common. However, don't let all my analysis to take anything away from the fact that this show and the follow up "Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories" are just pure fun to watch!
