This series was the most real and authentic thing that I've ever watched. I understand that this series has gained heavy amounts of criticism for the depiction of the characters in the show as well as the issues explored, however, I think that this was eye-opening which was the engaging aspect. I felt an urgent need to know what happened next in the show when I was watching it.
The acting was sensational and it was really clear what was going on in each person's head which provided me with an ability to emotionally connect with each and every character. Each character was three dimensional and despite the fact that it may have seemed that there were only good and bad characters, all characters had their flaws and positives. Due to the well rounded characters, the show was able to make me feel like it was real which is incredible due to how cliché some teen shows are today.
There was a lot of controversy about how the show ended, but I believe that it was emotionally enthralling. I, myself, balled my eyes out in the final episode due to the plot, great acting, and how much this show has really taught me.
Overall, this is probably one of the best shows I've ever watched as it touched on real life issues that are very prominent in society. It showed the importance of looking out for others and simply asking someone, "are you okay?" I highly recommend watching the show.
