I am an animal lover. I am also a omnivore. The older I get, the hard I am able to reconcile this. Is the show one-sided? Sure. But there's a reason. Their entire message is how a plant-based diet can significantly improve your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertention...not to mention increase your Libido. What would the other side of the coin be? That you need to eat more with a vegetarian diet to make up the caloric difference? Ok, fine. I think that's a reasonable trade off for a healthier life. Cost? Valid point...but they cover this. The more prevalent a plant-based diet becomes in society, the lower the cost will become. Vegan options are significantly less expensive than they were even 10 years ago...and the options availabe are SIGNIFICANTLY higher. Add to that the taste of these substitutes (Vegan "meats", "cheeses", etc) has become incredibly close to the real thing.
This is not some "leftist" plot like some folks on hear are suggesting. The Mayor of New York spoke to his own experience reversing his type 2 diabetes by going to a plant-based diet. What does that have to do with his politics? Also, people poo-pooing climate change and the effects of bovine emissions and the environment simply don't want to face reality. Change is scary for many.
Finally, people have been mentioning the study being only 8 weeks in duration. What we see (spoiler) in that short period of time the study confirms the benefits of a plant-based diet. If the study was a year long...you think the numbers would have suddenly dropped?
Anyhow, in the very least, I would recommend watching the series and decide for yourself. This omnivore is seriously considering making some changes.
