Grisham’s best book by far and it’s not close. This book will make you question you own ethics, and with a main character the caliber of Rudy Baylor, so desperate that he will fight his own incredibly high morals to survive it’s pretty easy to see why. With intriguing side characters and a complex yet cruel corporation as the antagonist, it’s a classic David vs Goliath story. Rudy wins his big case, but loses his love for the law at the same time.

“The Summons” by John Grisham is a book not like any of his others, venturing out of the territory of law thrillers, yet keeping familiar characters while acknowledging the power of the law while at it. This book is a testament to temptation and greed, and the ending if filled with intense moral struggle and causes the reader to put themselves in the situation of the main characters. The introduction to The King of Torts is perfect, and I would recommend this book to any who’ve read the Jake Brigance series already.
