A touching biography of Camus from the point of view of his relationships with his wife, mother, and lovers. The script includes just enough of his views to give him some meaningful shape as a character, but not enough to explain his significance as a writer and thinker. We are simply told he is important rather than seeing the impact of his work. Consequently his many affairs with women give the impression of someone shallow or self centered. Whilst that may have some validity in terms of his private life, it says nothing about his ideas,.plays, and novels. An engaging film that skates on the surface of a great life.
