Looks great but shallow plot, poor characterisation and no emotional depth at all. The overall plot about the war made no sense whatsoever. What were they trying to achieve? The central emotional connections in the film between Joshua, Maya and Alphie were totally undermined by the ludicrous choices the characters were making which just meant I didn't believe in them or connect with them at all. There was a bizarre 15 mins where it seemed to switch in tone from gritty but mainstream sci-fi (which I was enjoying) to comedy caper, and it never really recovered. Big let down.
