Confusing at times - the lead character was at times strong, smart and self assured and then would fall to these awkward moments where she literally ran away from situations ...she was a selfish woman (her own words) who should not have had children. Her ambitions and those like her were most important to her and her family just got in the way. I'm not saying she didn't love them, but of her own confession, she was a selfish person - not wanting to accommodate the family request to move on the beach, having no empathy for the lost doll all the while knowing the torment it caused the child to have lost it - almost taunting the child asking her about the lost doll. I was absolutely glued to the screen for the entire movie. The "bad people" really never really materialized as such; they were just threatening and bully like in response to her snotty attitude on the beach initially. In turn, who was really bad? The final scene with the young girl was a startling spin...I'm still thinking about the whole movie 24 hours later. Definitely worth your while to watch and to get your own ideas about the characters. Unique indeed.
