The gold standard is the 1951 original. This film is excellent and better than the 1982 version. The character development is first rate. One will not be heading to the kitchen for a snack during this movie.

100% rating by rotten tomatoes is absolutely warranted. Terrific movie that keeps you completely enthralled.

The classic films from the 30s and 40s are hard to beat for sheer entertainment. Directing as well as acting in this one is terrific. The story is hilarious.

Terrific film! The story is excellent and the scenes of San Francisco are breathtaking, especially for black and white film. Most impressive is the far above average dialog. Surprisingly snappy and clever. Even the dog is good.

The car stopping from a block away before hitting the train while moving over 100 mph and the body of the ship owner found in the bay being determined a suicide after being torn to pieces by a dog was a little too much.
