I haven't finished season 1 yet, but I like it enough to stick with it. There's only 2 seasons so that won't be hard. It's not the best show I've ever seen, but as a toddler mom with little-to-no free time for myself, I appreciate that there's no swearing or nudity so I can have it on with my child in the room. I had to break up with shows like Bridgerton or anything with profanity (especially while my 2 year old has been repeating literally everything he hears) so finding something PG to watch with a plot that actually holds my interest has been nearly impossible. Anyhoo...I digress. Cons: the show can be a bit corny at times (exaggerated southern accents mixed with overacting) along with unrealistic scenarios: all the men paying for sexual favors are dashingly good looking, which is the total opposite of real life. lol Pros: The characters have grown on me. I actually want to find out what's going to happen to most of them in every episode. There's no such thing as a TV series where you're going to like EVERY character, right? I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy Hallmark movies or chick flicks you'll probably enjoy this.

I'm honestly shocked at all the bad reviews. This movie is worth watching if you're in the mood for a murder mystery with a cool vintage feel to it. It's not bad at all. I'm going to try to not give any spoilers, but I feel compelled to comment on how much I disagree with the reviews overly victimizing the wife while completely dehumanizing the main character. Jessica Biel plays a mentally unstable, extremely self-centered, manic depressive, spoiled pampered housewife who is cold, unsupportive, and emotionally and sexually neglectful to her husband. Her only discomfort in life is a needy mother she chooses to oblige and a mysterious emotional disorder she refuses to seek help for, but gladly uses as an excuse for why she's allowed to neglect and mistreat her husband without any accountability. I'm sorry, that doesn't make her a victim, that makes her a narcissist. Her character spends all of her time running her husband ragged and inevitably into the arms of another woman who shamelessly pursues him. Don't get me wrong, her eventual death is tragic, and her husband obviously should not have gone through with the affair. But it was more tragic to watch a man who's clearly crazy about his wife, constantly bending over backwards trying to make her happy, while she takes advantage of him and gives him absolutely nothing in return in their one-sided marriage. But for some reason audiences show him zero empathy because he gets pushed too far and eventually stops tolerating her abuse. Seriously people, what the hell? lol It's honestly a huge eye opener on how easy it is for narcissists to manipulate people into feeling sorry for them. Just be *really* good at playing the victim and everyone will come to your defense. Gross. It doesn't matter that she literally gaslights her husband to the brink of insanity, audiences are quick to dismiss that simply because she's good at being melodramatic once he's finally reached his breaking point. If the roles were reversed no one would excuse the abusive spouse's selfish manipulation tactics, but because he's a man, everyone turns on him. Cool, got it. Anyway... regardless of how you end up feeling about the main characters, I still say give this movie a chance. It's not bad.

(Disclaimer: I have not read the book) I wasn't expecting to like this movie, but after giving it a chance I was pleasantly surprised. That being said this is NOT a movie you can talk through or scroll on your phone while watching or else you'll miss very important plot points that are subtly sprinkled throughout the film and you'll be completely lost & confused by the otherwise brilliant ending. If you've ever dealt with depression, lost all interest in daily activities, or struggled to see "what's the point?" of the rat race of existence, you'll be able to appreciate Veronica's apathy, erratic mood swings, & irrational draw to suicide. But even if you are unable to relate to the main character, hopefully you can still enjoy watching Veronica's journey with an open mind. The head doctor ended up being my favorite character simply because I was so quick to underestimate him. I don't want to give away the ending or ruin this with spoilers, so I'll just say if you're looking for a raw, intensely provocative film with an unpredictable, multifaceted cast of characters that are all uniquely damaged & beautiful in their own way, I highly recommend giving this movie a watch. I understand hospitals & asylums make most people uncomfortable given their dark history and bad reputation, but it's a very tame, minimum security asylum. Think "Girl, Interrupted" Nothing horrible.

I am probably just repeating what most people are saying, but this is the worst B movie I've ever attempted to watch. I couldn't get past 10 minutes. The movie score-music is this deafening, cheesy 80s keyboard that's so loud you can't even hear what the actors are saying. How this ever made it past editing is beyond me. I don't think Ashley is a bad actress, but she was terrible in this, at least from what I could make out through the music. But honestly, the script was so awful it probably wasn't her fault. There was no chemistry between her and her husband and the conversations were pointless. It was like listening to forced small talk. Just an uncomfortable chore. After 10 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and turned the movie off. Kudos to anyone who was determined enough to sit through it.

My advice if you haven't watched the show: Don't. Instead, treasure the old episodes of S&TC and don't taint their memory with this yucky reboot. It was enough to make me hate the characters I used to love. Since there are already so many shows EXACTLY like this streaming right now, I was praying AJLT would have the common sense not to succumb to being another pretentious blur lost in the sea with all the others. But sadly, there are no fun or original writers left in Hollywood, apparently. They're all just copying & pasting each other at this point. Boring, boring, boring. S&TC was ahead of its time and never tried to "fit in" or be just like all of the other shows...and that's what we loved about it! The women were witty, raw, and interesting. They were so relatable that they felt like these fictional friends, which is why the show left such a huge void in people's lives when it ended. However, this new show is a bunch of unlikable, cheesy, out of touch, narcissistic Karens & self-absorbed socialites who can't relate to normal human beings so, of course, they overcompensate with the same tired tactic of self-applauded wokeness that we've all come to expect. These women are just insufferable and so cringey to watch. And killing off Mr. Big? Really? God forbid any of them have healthy communication in their marriages or show an ounce of respect to their husbands like Carrie & Big. It's easy to emasculate Steve & Harry, but Big had a backbone so he clearly had to go. lol It's just so ridiculous. Anyway, call me when you can dig up some writers with *actual* talent, who have more to offer than lazily regurgitating last week's trending hashtags & media agendas and trying to pass it off as a script. #sorrynotsorry **************************************** PS can we please address the elephant in the room? Miranda was so ardently straight all throughout the series. Starting from the time her boss fixed her up on a blind date with Syd, to which she flatly states "Yep, definitely straight" after kissing her in the elevator, to being the most skeptical & unaccepting of Samantha's friends when Sam started dating Maria. Quoting the famous line, "How do you suddenly become a lesbian? Oh wait, I'm suddenly a fire hydrant!" Add as many gay characters to the show as you want, there's literally never been a shortage. But don't turn a character for no reason. Is Anthony suddenly going to be straight? Just, no. Good on Kim Cattrall for avoiding this dumpster fire. I'd hate to see how they would have destroyed Samantha like they did the others.
