I hate Google but I loved this book so much I wanted to review it here, along with all the personal recommendations I make of it. I used the book to kick off my 52 Book Challenge this year and I’m several weeks ahead of schedule yet unable to find a better book.
The story is compelling and intriguing without using overcomplicated storytelling mechanics. The plot events are woven into Korea’s real world history in a way that made me desperate to learn more about the country itself while seeking out other books by Lisa See.
On Goodreads, I have this book on a shelf titled “perfect reads.” It is one of 5 books to make it on that list and I stand behind that appraisal.
