Depeche Mode have found themselves again, yet at the same time have tapped into a vulnerability not previously seen.
Listening through headphones, volume up, there are nuances and layers that reveal themselves after a couple of listens and paying attention to the lyrics complements the atmospheric ambience that envelops the listener. In time, several of the tracks could quite well add to their complement of classics oft used in the media such as Halo, Policy of Truth and Personal Jesus.
Unlike Spirit, from which I only ever really listen to one track (Cover Me), I find myself wanting to play Memento Mori all the way through at least once a day.
