Katie Burlington

This series has some solid design choices with strong yet simple costuming/setting/lighting/dialogue. The thing that kills this series is the god-awful portrayal of Elizabeth. The actress is so terribly wrong for the role. Every actor around her upstages her whenever they are in the same room. She portrays a timid, dare I say, vapid girl who mumbles, can’t reason and can’t control her bad judgement. Half the time it feels like the actress playing Mary should have been cast as Elizabeth. It’s embarrassing how little they tried to develop the central character.
