A mix of Gossip Girl and Reign from the CW, with a healthy dose of fantasy AU. Didn't really do much as either show to invest viewers in the characters, particularly the lead actress, who seemed quite immature and really gave off teen vibes in some of her words, decisions, and manners. I am confused as to why the director clung to this "Regency-era" pretense at all, seeing that historical accuracy is the last priority here. It made things more jarring and distracting than if she simply declared the setting to be a fantasy kingdom.
