This is an odd little movie. One part stereotypical teen sex comedy, with its beautiful, scantily-clad young women, and the prerequisite horny stoner/slacker roommate/best friend, and another part quirky, pseudo-intellectual examination of men and women, and how they interact with each other. I wouldn't say it's a great film, but it dared to be a little different, and I appreciated that.

If you didn't know it was a parody, you would think you had stumbled across an old American news program from '87. The filmakers get the aesthetics just right, including an abundance of fake commercials. It was a lot of fun.

There's no way you can't laugh even just a little with this silly little movie, and if you can't, well...we probably won't be friends. Your loss, Mr. Serious Pants, because I'm kind of fun to be around.

Considering the "Snatcher" movies that preceded this one, "The Invasion" is not particularly good. There's no real tension, nor sense of impending doom, and Nicole Kidman's character is more annoying than anything else. Worst of all----NO PODS! We need the pods, man.

Somehow, this brilliant movie slipped under my radar in '92, but I finally got to watch it tonight. A very high energy movie about the chaos of trying to put together a stage play and tour with it. With the likes of Michael Caine, Carol Burnett, John Ritter, Christopher Reeves, etc., you can't go wrong.

This is a slow-moving film, without any real gore or jump scares, so it might not appeal to all horror enthusiasts, but I really enjoyed it. The creepiness comes from it's simple concept: put two characters who are strangers to one another in a small space, (a rundown mobile home) and let them interact, while a vicious thunderstorm rages outside. Almost immediately you know both of them are hiding something, but what..? Add in some atmospheric sound effects, and a power outage, and the creep factor grows. I kind of saw the ending coming halfway through the movie, but it didn't dampen my enjoyment of it. I definitely recommend this claustrophobic little Australian movie!
