As a Muslim man who is married to a Desi woman with bi-racial children I had to turn this off in utter disappointment and feeling offended. What a terrible stereotype of Islam and Desi culture. The majority of my friends are Pakistani and they make such a dignified culture look ridiculous.
In the second episode (which is where I had to stop watching this rubbish) there is a scene in the mosque where they pull nothing from the Friday prayer except some negative stereotypical subjects. Nothing of the beauty of communal prayer, the love Muslims feel for one another, and the devotion to God that brings us together every Friday.
Nobody would be talking in the middle of the Khutba (religious sermon) the way they portrayed, because there is too much respect. Muslims show up on Friday for God.
Aside from this, there is just a barrage of moments which make Muslims look backward, archaic, and honestly like a bunch of clowns. I would feel for any religious group where they were depicted this way... Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc. I even have an appreciation for people who do not accept any religion and understand their view.
However, this series just dishonors whatever they naively thought they were honoring. This is like the clown who says they appreciate Indian culture because they do power yoga. Ugh.
