There were some nice moments of tension and.suspense, but the crude and vulgar sex scenes were a bit of slog to read through. While it is true that this lewd writing style of the manuscript inside the book is there to give us insight into Verity's character, it still makes for a lot of badly written porn to have to wade through. I get what Hoover is doing, but still a bit gross to have to read through. The book is an interesting mashup of thriller and romance, but the end product fell a bit flat for me.
