I think it is an excellent portrayal of the bond of a child of a single parent, the trials & tribulations of single parenting, but even more so, the loss of that parent to a child. I watched it first in 79 as a single parent w my then 7yo. Later again with her & her younger sister. It was one of my oldest's favorite. I lost her in 94, but have watched it eveytime I could with memories of her. Recently, l also lost her sister & have her 4yo daughter, & we watched it. It has the tenderness to relate to an adult, as well, as to a child. A true masterpiece....💜
