leading up to the film it was often portrayed as a film about Amy’s life and career when in reality it ended up being an hour and half of her relationship with Blake. I know the album Back to black was somewhat inspire by the relationship, the heartbreak but there is enough films, clips and interviews out there about their toxic relationship out there already. Not that fans should want to revisit that often.
Few positives were the locations and costumes. You think of Amy you think of Camden town it was only right they shot some bits in Camden.
I think the grammy winning scene and the Glastonbury pyramid stage performance were the two best in the whole film. Particularly the grammy scene .. probably the most Marisa resembled Amy throughout. Also, Marisa and Jack put on good performances despite most not enjoying either of the castings for the 2 main characters.
The scenes with her dad gave almost nothing.. said so much but so little at the same time.
Also, be prepared for the most rushed ending you have ever seen. This is what dropped it to 2* for me. Not suggesting the ending should of been graphic at all but Amy gave so much to British music, London, has 2 timeless albums in her short career that her fans still can relate to today and you rushed the ending like that. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone if you have got this far but it was an ending that summed up the whole film in being mediocre.
I really wanted to love this but for me it’s a one time watch.
