Walked out of the theatre- Surprised, question marks, little satisfied, little dissatisfied, little overwhelmed also.
IN A NUTSHELL it's like studying only physics absolutely thoroughly for an exam but the subject is "Science" so it includes chemistry and Biology which you haven't gone through very thoroughly. You may/may not pass, but still you did do some physics well but the result is nullified by chem and bio so you won't be known as the best due to overall marks.
So it's what I would call a "weird film".
Cinematography was way more intricate than what I had originally thought of Kannada cinema to be but....it felt like quality of shots was too much more than what was trying to be playing out.
Rishab Shetty's acting is lopsided. Some places he really acts natural but other places suddenly reminds you "oh this is an "actor" from the typical Kannada cinema" and well....you realize you said the word "actor" meaning it's not totally engaging.
Also one more weird thing is the repetitiveness at some parts that ironically the detailed cinematography made it obvious. The "shouting" which was much much more than necessary, the fight scenes, the Daiva scenes, nightmares....it doesn't take long to realize that it's repetitive and not really a pattern of engaging events.
As for the plot that's also weird. I liked the outline structure of the plot. The idea of using Karnataka communities as a representative for the film which meant hero could shape up as a unique character rather than the typical films. Villains were good at acting(Devendra and Murali). But the weird part is towards the end it started taking a religious/political belief and I was almost at a facepalm. Using religious/political beliefs is a cheap way to dump information onto audience who are nowadays not falling for influences. Basically it became the typical Kannada commercial scenes "I've run out of ideas so let's just commercialize the scenes and get done with it".
