So I was expecting this book to go a lot differently. Honestly the book I will forever be solidified in being the best is the first red queen book because it’s content was rich with detail and really wowed me and then everything kinda fell from there. Don’t get me wrong the other books aren’t bad and do alright but they don’t grow the characters very well. Series like vampire academy and throne of glass have good character development and on the whole wrap up the story where I don’t ask questions where as this series has me questioning if the characters learned anything and What really does become of this world filled with divide. War storm leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn’t answer many questions. Spoilers!!!
The lakelanders disappear by the end of the book, mare and cal after everything don’t get the solidified ending that the author has pushed us to believe, maven doesn’t really get a death worry of his terror, and norta doesn’t get any conclusive conclusion on how it’s going to fuction. If I could change something’s i wish there had been some chapters in each book from maven and cals point of view. It would have developed them and given us a better perspective of struggles and growth. I wish the author would have just let mare and call be together at the end. Theres enough war and walking away that the end should have been either one of them dieing or just being together. I would have loved mare with maven but their relationship was unhealthy after the surprise of his betrayal in the first book. I wish mavens death was more exciting and I wish the authors had explored the possibilities of trying to save him. I wish there was a wrap up of the politics of norta and how they will proceed now with no king. Even a few pages with brief explanations would have made any of it better. At the end of the day I was disappointed overall with the whole series wishing for deeper and more thoughtful content. It just doesn’t compare to the other books ive read overall.
