A very interesting love story laced with the military coup in Nigeria. It identifies some of the problems that married couples face, the fate of a childless mother in the society and rules about motherhood, I was so emotional when I read " a mother must always be vigilant" and watching yejidi blame herself for her child's death was just too much. The book carefully exposes the tradition and culture of a part of the country Nigeria. At a point I wanted to shout at Akin to be truthful to jejide. The evils of polygamy was not left aside as the author made sure to tell us how Yejidi feels in her family after the death of her mother. I general the book is interesting and kept me on my toes till the end. Would recommend this to someone gladly.
