This is such an excellent show. The discworld fans who are tearing their hair out over the fact that it isn't a faithful recreation of the books, should pull one of the other legs, it's got bells on it. The fact is Pratchett always set the discworld series in multidimensional framework. Considering that the long Earth series that was created with Stephen Baxter, has multiple realities as it's central plotline, it seems that a adaptation like this was inevitable. The show very faithfully carried on Pratchett's puns, and absurdist humor. The well known characters, to discworld fans, are developed in different ways while also staying true to the core aspects of each character. It was a delight for me as a confirmed discworld fan to see my same/different friends having new adventures. After all no one is going to be able to capture the true essence of the discworld in any new novels, so let's follow Terry's example and explore the neighboring dimensions for new stories, or old stories retold on new ways.
On a final note I think in the future a lot of the fans who trashed this series before it even came out are gonna look back in a few years time and realize this show was an excellent concept and very well done, and they will wish there was at least a second season.
