This was the second biography of Bonhoeffer I read and was disappointed in the one by Metaxas. The author was anachronistic in the way he talked about liberal theology, perhaps to suit his own purposes. It was sloppy to use the term "liberal theology" without giving it its appropriate late 19th and early 20th century contexts. The book didn't reflect enough some of Bonhoeffer's emerging theology as expressed toward the end of "Letters and Papers from Prison." So many words to miss some of the main points.
