The movie is such an emotionally moving piece about human interactions in the face of crisis. I have not seen the 2 sequel movies but knowing the premise was aliens who reacted to sound was enough to thoroughly appreciate the story. They immediately bonded us to the main character by showing a young intelligent woman facing inevitable death by chronic illness. They again bonded us to the second main character as he reacts so realistically to the thought of the world ending as he knows it through panic attacks, crying and coping through humor and kindness. This was easily one of my favorite movies I've seen in the past couple years. The cat was a good touch as well. We all love animals and I thank John Krasinski for realizing killing the innocent animal would have done terrible things for the movie at the box office.
