I have watched over 300 horror movies during the last few years and because of this it‘s logical that by now, I‘m not really scared when watching horror movies.
To be fair, I have seen a few promotional teasers but I have never watched the trailer for this film nor have I read anything about it because I wanted to be spoiled as little as possible. Added to this, I live in Germany and Longlegs isn‘t as popular over here.
Yesterday I went to the premiere screening in my part of the country and I am completely honest when I say that I was terrified. This was the first time that I couldn‘t sleep after a movie and actually had nightmares. Of course this might not be the same for everyone because horror is subjective but for me it pushed the right buttons.
While the ending felt rushed and I didn‘t really like the supernatural part but the rest of the movie made up for it. Nicolas Cage did an incredible job playing Longlegs and the look was very scary to me (keeping in mind that this is what a person could actually look like after multiple botched plastic surgeries). I got a feeling that the producers were inspired by Analogue Horror to a certain extent, especially during the promo phase and a few sequences during the movie.
I am now officially obsessed with this film.
