It's a significant improvement over 2K22, which in the world of annual sports titles, is refreshing. There is a lot that's new. The on the court gameplay feels great, and the graphics are the best they've ever been. The addition of the MyNBA Eras, which allows users to start their dynasty mode in either the 80s, 90s, or 2000s (or modern era) is arguably the most innovative feature ever added to a sports sim video game, and its complete with accurate rosters, draft classes, arenas, rules and unique TV packages/filters that emulate TV broadcasts from those respective time periods. Hopefully they continue adding on to the Eras mode in future releases.
The reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because of microtransactions. It's getting ridiculous at this point, and it makes the game less fun. MyCareer is better, but still not as good as it used to be. The dialogue is corny as heck, the storyline is sorta ok, but would still prefer a more straightforward career mode, like Road to Glory in the old NCAA games, than a melodramatic story where the characters talk like people in a very unfunny CW sitcom.
