This book is timely.
The old argument by many concerning Odudua coming from heaven or middle east is so disjointed that any reasonable head will know lacks validity.
Oduduwa came from Benin and that's it.
Let all who care to accept what is right read and accept.
Whether Oduduwa is a Benin descent or not, it will not change the name and influence of the Yorubas. However, their exalted and respected Oduduwa has history and background. It is important to know where he came from and live in that light.
I am more successful and have enjoyed some great things of life than my seniors and blood lines.
That doesn't make me their senior nor should I try to rule over them when family matters are tabled before us. My seniors are my seniors regardless my accomplishments in life.
Where I came from won't change no matter the economic and educational stand of my people.
So is Oduduwa with his Benin's ancestry. He came from there and ruled over Yoruba land as his father was a banished Owodo who was a king in Benin while he a Prince. Thanks to the executors who spared the Prince. Now he was to be put back in his inherited throne but due to age, he send his son to go rule over his Grandfather's throne.
He didn't find or establish Benin's Kingdom, he went HOME to rule.
This is it.
Where is "middle East" or "Far East" showing in anything "YORUBA" that we sit and believe in tales?
Let's not destroy our continental heritage just to feel special in what has nothing special in it.
