I want to start by saying that I have watched the movie, but I wish I hadn't because I was paying money to spread hate.
This movie is offensive.
Worse then any movie I have seen.
First of all, the restraint scenes.
I used to work with Autistic Kids.
They were the kindest and sweetest people I knew.
That is NOT HOW YOU HANDLE A SITUATION LIKE THAT.
That is Dangerous! Dang-er-ous!
Trying to calm someone down like that is just...ugh.
It's dangerous.
Second of all, the casting.
I love all of the actors, but not for this movie.
Specifically Maddie Zegaler as the role of Music.
Casting a non-autistic actor as an autistic role is like casting a white man as a black man.
OFFENSIVE!
Third, What was the plot of this movie?
I thought it was going to be about the autistic child, Music?
Apparently it's about the sister?
Kazoo?
Also- the forced relationship between Kazoo and Ebo is just, well, forced.
And finally for now, it's apparent that Sia did not do any research.
The list honestly goes on forever, but those are my main concerns.
I would 100% give this a 0-star rating if I could.
Thank you for reading my review.
And I hope you understand why this movie is offensive and frustrating.
