I'm a person that owns matrix ultimate DVD box, matrix 1 Blu-ray, ultimate Blu-ray matrix trilogy, and now the ultrahd Blu-ray 4k set.
To say I've been waiting for this movie is an understatement.
What made the matrix good, they threw it out the window.
What made the matrix sequels bad, she doubled down on it.
I actually appreciate the plot and new direction. I found her new story to be fine. The ending was easy to figure out by the second act and I didn't hate it.
However, the pacing, the new cinematography direction, the use of explosives, the final act, the plot holes, the pandering to gen z, the reintroduction of freelancing Smith, the use of jayda pinketsmith in old make up. ... All of those things are what kills this movie.
Lana, in her mind forgot who her target audience was. It's me. Not being selfish, but common... It's not the kids going to no way home. There was nothing "cool" or even geeky about this movie. It didn't know how to be anything other than a toned down action flick.
I'm going to leave it at those for now. Just, the movie has only few redeeming qualities but the gamble she took to change the direction of the franchise was a huge disaster
