This was painful to watch. I couldn’t finish it. I’ve seen many of these actors in other things, but had I not, I would wonder how any of them got cast in such an iconic story. All of them are lacking in their ability to portray these endearing characters and there was no chemistry between any of them. I didn’t hate the idea of a nonlinear approach to the story, but it was so choppy and rushed. Also, most of the actors looked way too young for their characters. There is no comparison with earlier adaptations I’ve seen, one with Winona Ryder and the other with June Allyson. I have no idea how it fared so well from an overall rating standpoint.
