Disturbing. Left me feeling like I was dragged into the Insanity of Arthur. Tragic. Dark. Thought provoking. The musical was annoying but serves the purpose or pulling you into the sick world of delusion that is between Arthur and Harley Quinn. You want to resist but you cant. We all wear masks that serve a purpose. Here the Joker is an icon for fanaticism, escapism , idolatry, perversion. For Arthur to escape the cruelty or his world splits him into thats which he avoids and channels his rage which he abhors. Joker is the ultimate villan and victim (mask on mask off) who's hope is snuffed at every turn. Phoenix is brilliant weaving Arthur's downhill pathetic spiral til his demise which evokes the gut reaction of voyeurism of that which is shameful.
See it at your peril. And I recommend you do. The shared madness is with you... the audience. Brilliantly done.. and "that's entertainment "
