It doesn't feel like a military simulation, even with the new immersive mode. The game was built from the ground up with the intent of gear and microtransactions. You need to play with gear and gear scores and in multiplayer in order to enjoy raid content. They are finally trying to turn this game into something people want because of the outcries after launch, but it's still built on a weak foundation.
This game shouldn't have RPG-style gear and gear scores, yet Watch Dogs: Legion should, and it doesn't. They should have doubled down on the realism of wearing different kinds of gear (if it looks heavy, it probably is) and the unrealism of carrying two weapons. Of course you can carry two weapons, but with the additional weight of a second weapon and the accompanying ammo, you are going to move and maneuver substantially slower.
Wearing nothing but a t-shirt, jeans, and baseball cap should afford maximum movement speed and climbing, whereas wearing a full ballistic suit should give you significant damage reduction, but reduced speed and the inability to climb (at least effectively). I'm not sure who decided to taint this game with RPG-style gear and gear scores, raids, etc. but Ubisoft should consider their future as a creative director.
