i don’t think any album will strike as hard as this one for a while. The demo of the two of us really showcases this sort of raw gothic sound emitted from suede, which i think really shows them in a completely different light to self titled or coming up - you can see the obvious smiths in self titled and coming up is really this come back bang we’re here album. I think dog man star is just so thought out, so overdone in the best way explicable, it’s just this great operatic showcase which really to me shows the band as a whole with the bowie/bush influences in this hollywood life while also still sticking to their roots in the wild ones. I think every track is a masterpiece in its own right, the asphalt world getting the credibility as it needs as the albums masterpiece and maybe even suedes as a whole. And how can i not mention heroine, which is just this electric incredible song which brings the pulse of moving and the beat of coming up. It summerises them as a band, and the b sides on every single are just more than the world to me. My dark star for example, i cant even explain that and the living dead ; they give off this sort of trainspotting, drudgy and ultimately accurate depiction of england to me. It’s such a relatable and touching album despite being so melodramatic. I think it doesn’t get enough credit despite being regarded as one of the best of 90s. I’ll edit this comment a hundred times as i listen to the album too often for my own good.
