I saw the movie The new color purple and I am not happy. Yes, I knew it was a musical, but damn. It was giving me a Tyler Perry's Madea play vibes. Too over the top with the songs, it became annoying. I thought it was going to be like Dream Girls, because that was a Broadway play too, like this adaptation, but no. It was like a live action Disney movie on CBS with the songs and the acting. I think it should have never went to movie screens but was done live on T.V. They should have instead broadcasted it like Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella with Brandy. So it was o.k., but not worth seeing on the Big Screen.
