I was actually surprised that I had not posted a review here for the film "A Silent Voice / Koe No Katachi". I've talked it up and posted across all kinds of outlets! And now, can I possibly mention everything I've ever said here? Maybe not, but it's all been glowing! You need to know that I cherish this film, and it touches the lives of all who can appreciate it! It impacted me in a deep, core way!
This film is renowned for so many incredible reasons, I can't say it all, but I absolutely love it!
It used to be on Netflix, so the first time I saw it was there, probably around the time it was added. It had huge name recognition, and now it's my favorite film! I decided I could not be without this film, and the American blu ray has subtitles on whenever you watch in Japanese. As a language learner a must for me is at least being able to turn the subs off. This is a quirk that won't affect most English viewers, but for my use, I imported a Japanese blu ray. And I repeat, I decided I could not be without this film, so eventually I also got a special edition! If either disc ever breaks, an instant replacement goes in the special edition box!
And when I thought my niece might be old enough, I told her about it, and showed her. Her reaction shocked me! I'm a super fan, and things she said sounded like me!
If I'm forgetting anything, you can trust that I've said it as I've praised this legendary film so much! I've made the point often that I think more people should see it, spreading the word at every opportunity, and if you have the 4K equipment to watch it on, do yourself a favor with blu ray! I hear it said that the English version is also stellar, even as I stick to the original Japanese!
I will always want to see a Japanese 4K disc get released, so we can see all it's greatness optimized to the fullest, but blu ray still feels like a pristine delivery!
So If I've left anything unclear, you should certainly make sure to watch this! I've seen it more times than I can count at this point, and I only wish I could remember all the good things I've ever said! A spectacular film! Thanks for listening!
