Normally these Cold War Spy stories become so complex that you lose track of the storyline.This is six hours long but whilst you have to concentrate and cant leave the room unless you play back,the cast keep going back during their briefings which act as a documentary style narrative. The casting is well balanced but Tom Hughes underplayed character leads the field with his sidekick Shaun Dooley playing the earthly "outsider",a Special Branch secondment who thinks MI5 are basically a bunch of twerps (not far wrong).Take your time and watch it at your leisure it moves fast and does not bore you

What a load of corny rubbish.The fact that Robert Hardy has a lead role gives you a clue.The script could have been written by a couple of 5th years.The follow up with Blackadder was not only historically more accurate but a lot funnier. Turn over channels or switch off alltogether

This really was (to quote Elliot Gould),a War film too Far.Dirk Bogarde played some incompetent twit who kept Saying "Mintgomery!" Made 32 years after the war about an event of crass british incompetence,it was more likely to fill the cinemas of Berlin than Birmingham.Elliot Gould and James Cahn give a bit of light american relief.Sean Connery gives best shot with Michael Caine,pity the shot was not through the head of Edward Fox for his ham acting If you can watch from start to finish without falling asleep see your GP

One of the great comedy classics of all time.Brilliant story line and cast with Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis at their best.When Curtis tries to chat up Marilyn Munro using a Cary Grant accent,Lemmon berates him saying "nobody TALKS like that!" is classic line.Two men dressing as women in the 1950's and still being macho!!

Has a film ever been made that hasn't been spoiled by Gregory Peck,one of the worst actors ever to have (dis)graced the silver screen.A great,if over long action film rescued by Anthony Quinn and David Niven which was a bit too comic book in parts.When being chased by a division of germans Irene Papas comes out with this great line "Colonel Stavros I like you".Sums up the standard of the script

It is very intense and takes you almost into the house itself.You can only really watch it once as it takes too much out of you.I saw the original TV film 30 years ago with Bernard Hepton replacing Cairon Hinds and Adrian Rawlings (James Potter) replacing Harry (Daniel Radcliffe).Nothing wrong with the quality of acting but I could watch the old version again

A real bargain basement B movie.A very good cast but with a script this bad it would have been wasted on the junior understudies.Who in the British forces says "lootenant" instead of "left tenant" It was supposed to be based on a true story but was devoid of any attempt at realism.Give this a miss

One of the best films ever made but much hated by the Imperialist and Colonial set that,sadly,this Country still has in abundance.The rest of us,seeing the arrogant british raj getting their cum uppance it is a pure joy.Acting superb apart from Alec Guinness playing an indian mystic,pushes it a bit too far even if he does do it so well
