Good first half, bad second half. More than a disturbing father-son relationship, Ranbir’s character is straight away psychotic, sexist and misogynist.
It looks like the art of story telling is something which the director definitely isn’t really good at. It loses the grip over you every now and then, editing could’ve been better. Movie could’ve been trimmed down by 40 minutes easily.
Coming to characters, women don’t have much to do in the movie which maybe is alright ans they also don’t contribute much. Everyone in the movie needs therapy.
Ranbir’s character isn’t really an emotionally complex character but is tried to shown as one.
Anil Kapoor does his job well but his scenes are also quite limited. Rashmika’s character has a very toxic weird attraction towards Ranbir’s character and seems like she’s in mostly for the money as she forgives almost everything whenever Ranbir mentions that he would take her out in the private plane.
Women in the family are missable. For some strange reason, Shakti Kapoor is in the movie and his role doesn’t really have an impact.
Bobby Deol was a sight to see in the trailer but doesn’t get a significant role in the movie. All the hype, for absolutely nothing.
Coming to Ranbir’s acting, he’s good in most parts but every now and then you see him back to the naive Rockstar character, as dialogue delivery is mostly the same.
What works well is the movie is the BGM (background music). The songs however aren’t too good and have been put in just anywhere.
To summarise, I was expecting a lot from the movie ever since the announcement was made. Trailer only increased the expectations but the movie didn’t deliver. Not at all.
