I just saw It and omg it was so good. I never had a problem with the casting but I had very very low expectations just bc I hate all the live actions remakes so far. Yes, all. I went bc I like cartoon history and specifically princesses but I didn't expect to like it at all. I was mind blown by how fast I got used to her as Ariel, she is PERFECT for her and I think added to the story a lot. The new story isn't a carbon copy of the animated. A lot of people probably don't like that but I thought it was fantastic. All the extra scenes made the movie the first time I ever thought Eric and Ariel were a cute couple. They had so much more development and my friends kept turning to each other going "their so cute" and "they look so good together". As someone who is very into princesses, Ariel is one of my favorite characters, and honestly at the age I am now I would rather rewatch this than the animated. The animated movie is amazing and a classic. And it's not gone it'll always be Ariel and always be there. But as a kid who grew up with the animated I love the live action story
