The story is very interesting, or it could be very interesting. The acting and plots are so amateurish that one cannot continue watching without cringing (Rufus Sewell is an exception). Juliana is completely lifeless character whose main acting-technique consists of staring as though coming to a realization scene after scene. Joe Black’s love makes no sense for Juliana and has neither depth nor chemistry, and all of a sudden they are in love. Japanese characters could be pulled from any american movies portraying Japanese people:obsessed with honor, ritual and politeness, always subtle implied threats at each other.
All in all, very promising story and premise, yet terribly acted and terribly written.
