I so wanted to like this, but it ended up being a disjointed mish-mash of half-baked ideas and blatant retcons that killed an otherwise promising trilogy. The Last Jedi broke new ground and attempted to keep things interesting, but after the divisive reception, Rise of Skywalker felt like 3 steps back, trying too hard to cater to fans without any concern about making a good movie. What we were left with might have been slightly entertaining, but half of the movie was spent erasing or ignoring storylines from TLJ while inventing new ones all in the effort to sterilize the material.
