Well... the Charlie Mingus music is already outstanding and exquisite. Hall Willner, instead of making a tribute/revival Mingus CD tries to inoculate the music with an external voice more global full of Americana swing, that's why is called "Meditations on Mingus". Sound wise, is still and after 20 years, my reference CD for tuning sound systems in live shows. Everybody is on this CD from Chuck D to Diamanda Galas. Pay extra attention: Harry Partch original instruments are played trough most of the compositions. Mixed by Tom Lazarus.
