I played this on Nintendo Switch, online co-op with my partner. After a week of playing, my Phoenix Labs account lost all its progress and restarted my character. Upon contacting them, they said it's a known issue and they were working on a patch. Nintendo have since refunded me. I think it's unacceptable for the game to have been released in this state.
As for the game itself:
Cons:
- In game days are too short
- You are limited on how many items you can sell per day, which makes the experience unnecessary tedious
- Developmental bugs makes the game not playable in its current state
- The watering can empty animation is pointless and time wasting
- NPCs are boring and repetitive
- Planting and crop process is flawed and time consuming
- Side quests often disappear or are overridden by other quests
- Limited character customisation
- $80aud is ridiculous
Pros:
- Tools automatically change based on what you need for the action (although this can be problematic when planting crops, as I found that it kept changing to seeds when I was trying to water surrounding plots)
- Beautiful game visuals
- The map is completely interactive, you can go anywhere - not limited to paths or by cliffs etc.
I'm a person who plays a lot of cozy games and also survival games. Despite what this game claims and other players think, I do not consider this the definition of a cozy game. Cozy games are supposed to be relatively easy and repetitive to ease anxiety - this game doesn't cater to that, it's a hustle at the start, takes too long to progress, and does not follow logical progression. Even the fishing isn't relaxing. It was an attempt at a Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing hybrid, but it failed.
