My dear friend, Alicia Appleman-Jurman, survivor and author, was recruited when still a teenager to aid in helping other survivors reach safety. Her recruiter was Tzivia Lubetkin, one of the leaders of the uprising. Alicia told me that when she saw the film in 2001, she felt that it was one of the few that came close to "getting it right." I would have preferred that the producers had used all unknown actors, but that said, the principals did an excellent job. This is still a little known story and that should not be the case.
